Hello friends I have got M.Tech (Food Tech) in MAU Parbhani through ICAR. My friend has said that MAU is reputed as an agriculture university, it is not having good food technology facility and placements. Plz help me? Which college is best MAU or GB Pant?

Hi Nidhi,

HPLC or  GCs are in few labs (under certain projects). Now that depends on which guide you get and which department you get for project to have access to that equipments. Moreover, all projects doesnt require HPLC and GC.

Campus recruitment is near to NO in MAU campus.

Thank U Pankaj Sir and Sanjeev Sir.

Actually I have decided to go for higher studies and chosen MAU Parbhani. Also I am having 1.5 years work experience in R&D.

But my friend has confused me that MAU do not have full fledged food processing pilot plant and lab facilities (HPLC, GC, etc.).

And regarding placements i just want to ask atleast companies come for recruitments or not.

Hi Nidhi,

My comments (not much different from Pankaj)

MAU - Pros:

Have College of Food tech, an old college providing course in food tech.

Many departments but Engg depart is not as strong as being expected from MTech providing institute

Strong alumni base in food industry.

Good and supportive faculty.

New fruit processing unit run 24x7 which gives student good practical exp

MAU - Cons

University brand not as strong as GB pant University

Campus is not as happening as GB Pant

No placement facility (neither in GB Pant univ also)

Few departments are not well equipped

Interestingly, people doing graduation at MAU aspire to go to GB Pant and people doing graduation in GB Pant, prefer MAU :)

So, at the end, repeating Pankaj's point Make a choice based on your personal interest and what you would like to do in future (want to go for higher studies or get a job). End decision will always be yours.

Tough choice by the way. As far as facility and placements is concerned i would disagree on the notion that its not good. The faculty of CFT Parbhani is excellent and i have many friends in industry who have passed out from this college. The basics gained by students from this institute are lifelong. Regarding placements, it again depends on individual and not college/institute. You can see even CFTRI passouts struggle to get placements as industry is on a hiring freeze mode and only experienced candidates are given preference.

Similarly GBPUAT is equally good in terms of faculty and placements and no problem in choosing either of these options. Make a choice based on your personal interest and what you would like to do in future (want to go for higher studies or get a job). End decision will always be yours.
